PITA: Personal Intelligent Travelling Assistant

Organization responsible: Delft University of Technology (TUD), Quintic, Tenuki

People involved:

  • Leon Rothkrantz (coordinator, TUD)

Project description:

The Personal Intelligent Travelling Assistant (PITA) project is a cooperation with the TU Delft, Tenuki and Quintiq. At this moment there is a project running at TUDelft focused on dynamic routing. Car drivers usually take the shortest route from A to B, but the shortest route can be congested. An alternative route can
be shorter in time. Recently, Rothkrantz has demonstrated that dynamic routing makes sense. Car drivers can save a lot of time and money using the PITA system The proposed project is to develop a running prototype of personal dynamic routing system for car drivers on the freeways. It is based on concepts developed in the Combined-D-CIS project and concepts and systems recently developed in the ICIS CHIM cluster. The basic concepts and systems have been developed. In the proposed project they will be composed together to a running system which can be used as a demonstrator of valorized ICIS deliverables. PAGE: Parkeer- Geleiding Rotterdam in cooperation with Technolution BV and the Gemeente Rotterdam. Technolution will develop a new type of system to guide cars to available parking places throughout the city. The new agent-based system will combine information from several information systems to be able to guide traffic more intelligently. In doing so it enhances the situation awareness of the parties involved and also support their common decision making processes.
