WP3.4 Management of hybrid meta-heuristics for realistic scheduling problems

Organization responsible: Delft University of Technology

People involved:

  • Cees Witteveen
  • Jeroen de Jong, Thales Research & Technology NL

Project description:

The goals of this project are:

  • Assessing the usefulness of hybrid metaheuristics for realistic dynamic scheduling problems. To do so, the evolving self-managing hybrid metaheuristics framework is applied to several problems on various domains.
  • Developing a management framework for hybrid metaheuristics. This is done by applying lessons learned from other research fields such as Machine Learning, Situation Awareness and Naturalistic Decision Making (De Jong, 2005, 2006). Assessing the qualities of such a framework by running experiments on the above mentioned problem fields.
