WP5.1 Knowledge transformation

Organization responsible: TNO, Thales Research & Technology, 4TEC

People involved:

  • Ronald Poell
  • Tom Rijgersberg

Project description:

The project aims to:

  • determine the state of art for knowledge transformation techniques and the current research executed,
  • define the expected added value of a future well established semantic web and semantic networks  in this area,
  • expand the existing transformation techniques with required new ones,
  • evaluate the existing data lineage techniques and create new ones if necessary,
  • apply knowledge mapping techniques in parallel and distributed processes building on assets realized in the grid domain,
  • analyze the processes of the generation and verification of hypotheses for knowledge mapping
  • define and prototype coordination mechanisms for these kind of agents,
  • conceive and realize an agent-based mapping mechanism (prototype) that dynamically build broker information,
  • analyze the characteristics of the usage of information,
  • investigate the mapping requirements in relation to the intended use,
  • design and realize a prototype illustrating usage-based automated mapping techniques
