Organization responsible: TNO

Project description:

The project aims to allow applications to get a better sense of the underlying network we are creating the Network Description Language. It provides a common semantics for the exchange of information about the network between applications. The information about the network will allow applications to better interact with the network, discover services, and adapt the network to their needs.
These descriptions allow application interaction with the network, to ensure they get the service they need. It will also allow applications to get an overview of the available network and act upon the possibilities they discover.

The general research questions are:

  • Analyze state of the art in Network Resource Virtualisation
  • Analyze the requirements for Network Resource Virtualisation
  • Design an ontology to describe networks
  • Describe and build a prototype network resource broker based on network descriptions
