Project description:

In situations where stress and cognitive load are very high, information processing capacity of people is limited. Thus, systems should only send the information that is really essential, but then this may make people wonder whether they are missing things. This project investigates the factors that influence user trust, acceptance and usage behaviour in interaction with information filters that adapt themselves to the individual user and the sort of information being conveyed. The research focuses on transparency, that is, what needs to be explained to the user, when and how.  In our crisis situation, for example, someone in the field would be provided with chosen information on the basis of their own profile (are they a fireman or a medic) and they may be told why this information is being given to them so that they will accept it more easily.
