ICIS invests effort in demand articulation. For a project like ICIS, that produces knowledge and concepts in some form of “raw material”, the closest thing to a market are the Technology Providers. To satisfy market demands, ICIS results are transferred in algorithms, software modules, requirement captures etc. More outbound, the Technology Providers and to a lesser extend the ICIS partners satisfy the needs from Solution Providers by engineering technology into products. And more outbound still the “real market” of users can be found that use certain products in their processes to satisfy their own goals. In general, the larger the distance, the more difficult and abstracting the communication. To develop proper transfer functions, ICIS has appointed two valorization managers who are executing the approved ICIS Valorization Plan. One is working for the application domain of traffic management and the other is working for the application domains of crisis management and defense. Our dissemination strategy towards application domains will be push & pull. This means that in the beginning of the project we will concentrate on pushing the results in the direction of potential users of the results, translating our technology into application terms. Later on, we instigate pulling from these communities, getting them to articulate specific demands for solutions that our technology can help with. Towards the scientific community our strategy is publish & subscribe, send out all information to whom might be interested and leaving the decision to internalize the information to them. The ICIS valorization strategy resulted in a number of valorization projects. An overview is available here. |
