Within the ICIS project the research is organized in a number of research clusters. Each cluster contains projects that share a common theme. The clusters are:

• Enhanced Situation Awareness (ESA)
  Enhanced capabilities for systems to understand their environment.
• Collaborative Decision Making (CDM)
  Decision Making between Man and Machine, between actors and agents.
• Computational Human Modeling (CHIM)
  Advanced and adaptive interactions between humans and systems.
• ICIS Architectures (ICIS-A)
  Innovative architectures for distributed agent-actors communities.

Additionally, the Integration and Demonstration (ID) cluster facilitates applied research and valorization projects. Also, this cluster supports cross-cluster harmonization, integration and dissemination of the ICIS research results.
