Val Monte Event, February 2008

On February 12th and 13th, the "Val Monte" ICIS event took place at the Val Monte Hotel in Nijmegen. This event was all about presenting and promoting ICIS work. At the XMAS Event ICIS made descriptions of 90+ assets that the ICIS project now has available. The purpose of the Val Monte Event was to promote the ICIS assets by figuring out how they could become part of a scientific book, a public and project website, a glossy book, a set of integrated demonstrators, the ICIS vision document and so on.

On the XMAS event, Paul Burghardt introduced the ICIS Diamond. The Val Monte event was all about filling in all edges of the diamond. For each part of the diamond a Service Team was put together. Each Service Team is a taskforce consisting of at least two PMT members, a number of researchers and some external professionals to provide additional support. The Website Service team will, for example, be led by Lynn Packwood and Martijn Neef. They will recruit a number of researchers from the different clusters that find it interesting and challenging to promote our work publicly with this medium. Furthermore they will contract some professionals to support the design and presentation of our material.

Project members have been given the opportunity to make sure their assets become part of the ICIS Diamond, and to help to give the ICIS project its final form. During the day all participants worked in sessions in which they outlined various parts of the ICIS diamond and actually created content, based on the assets we produced during the XMAS Event.
